Developing better PMs with Ocado’s product skills framework
Product Management means different things in different companies. For some, it grows out of project or engineering roles; for others, it begins with a single hire.
At Ocado Technology, with a product management function of over 100 product managers, it became critical to clearly define what great product management looks like regardless of level, location, or background.
In this keynote, Matthew Feczko, Director of Product Operations, shares how he and his team introduced a Product Skills framework to bring clarity, consistency, and fairness across Ocado’s product organisation.
Rather than prescribing what product managers do, the framework outlines the skills, attributes, and competencies needed to succeed enabling sharper recruitment, fairer promotions, and more meaningful development across the employee lifecycle.
This talk explores how a shared language of skills has not only helped professionalise product at Ocado, but has also inspired other disciplines like Engineering, Data, and UX to define what excellence looks like in their own functions.

Panel: From chaos to conversion, orchestrating a product-led strategy with product ops
The promise of Product-Led Growth (PLG) is a powerful one, but the reality can be chaotic. Disjointed data, siloed teams, and inconsistent user experiences often prevent a seamless transition from free trial to paying customer. The solution? Product Operations (ProdOps).
This panel brings together leaders who have successfully bridged the gap between product vision and operational execution. They will reveal how a strategic ProdOps function provides the critical infrastructure needed to turn a PLG aspiration into a repeatable, scalable engine for growth.
Panelists will share practical insights on:
- Building the PLG tech stack: Learn which tools are essential and how ProdOps manages them to create a unified data stream.
- Creating a single source of truth: Discover how to standardise metrics and democratise data, enabling every team to make informed decisions.
- The operational side of the flywheel: We’ll break down the workflows that drive PLG, from managing A/B tests to creating a seamless handover for a Product-Qualified Lead (PQL).
Join us to learn how to transform your PLG efforts into a well-orchestrated, high-performing growth machine.
