Jason
Lott
Senior Manager, Product Operations
Bonterra
Jason Lott started a second career in 2016, beginning with four years as a Product Manager focused on nonprofit fundraising tools. He then moved into a Product Operations role, shaping the team as EveryAction joined several other social good software companies to form Bonterra. Since that time he has been at the forefront of redefining the processes, tech stack, and reporting needs for the department. Leading a team of three, his ProdOps team supports a department of 50 people. In his past life, Jason had over 15 years of nonprofit experience at several organizations including the Human Rights Campaign, the Shakespeare Theatre Company, and Lake Superior State University. That made Jason passionate about building better tools to help make the lives of nonprofit professionals easier. He has also served on the Board of the Direct Marketing Fundraisers Association for a decade and has frequently been a presenter at industry conferences and webinars. Jason received a BS degree from Western Michigan University, and an MA degree from American University.

How Product Ops at Bonterra solved a Brady Bunch challenge
One of the core responsibilities for Product Operations is consolidating and streamlining processes and the tech stack that the Product department uses daily. At Bonterra this was especially challenging with seven sibling teams coming together in a horizontal merger, bringing their own software and operating procedures to the table. In this session, Jason will discuss how the team determined the optimal software to use at the best price, renegotiated and canceled contracts for big expense savings, redefined key processes, and gained internal buy-in before rolling out changes to the department. Jason will also cover how AI is allowing his team to optimize their work across the board.
