From product owner to product builder: How the PM role is being rewritten
The role of the Product Manager is changing. As AI, no-code tools, automation, and increasingly capable product technologies reshape how teams work, PMs are moving beyond defining requirements, managing backlogs, and coordinating delivery. They are becoming product builders—people who can turn ideas into working prototypes, test assumptions faster, and collaborate more directly with technology and design.
This session explores what this shift means for the modern PM. What skills become essential when the distance between an idea and a working product shrinks? How does AI change the PM’s relationship with engineers, designers, customers, and data? And where should PMs draw the line between building, managing, and leading?
Through practical examples and lessons from the evolving product landscape, we’ll explore how PMs can embrace builder mindsets without losing sight of strategy, customer value, and outcomes—and why the next generation of product leaders may be defined less by what they manage and more by what they can make happen.
