The product manager as an artist
What if product management is not just a discipline of strategy, execution, and prioritization but a creative practice? Artists begin with ambiguity. They work within constraints, make choices without knowing exactly how the final piece will look, respond to feedback, and continually refine their work. Product managers do much the same: navigating incomplete information, technical limitations, customer needs, and business realities to create something that didn't exist before. In this interactive session, we’ll explore what product managers can learn from artists and musicians. We’ll examine the blank canvas as a metaphor for discovery, composition as a model for product strategy, negative space as the discipline of deciding what not to build, and iteration as the path from experimentation to excellence. Participants will rethink how they approach ambiguity, creativity, constraints, and collaboration. Discover that great product management may be less about managing what gets built and more about the art of creating what comes next.
